Vila Valverde - Design & Country Hotel

This place is a real gem! The spacious property with the surrounding park is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. A perfect place to relax. Also the rooms are spacious and have a private terrace with a beautiful view. Last but not least, the staff is very friendly and did a great job making sure we have everything we need to enjoy our time.

Awwwwww this place is PERFECT: sure it’s a « modern designed » hotel, not a traditional old house. But it’s spacious, beautiful rooms, amazing view, huge beautiful garden, great breakfast... it’s so quiet!

DO NOT STAY HERE! I've never had a worse experience in my life with a hotel or its staff. They were rude and provided the worst service. The conditions of the hotel were unacceptable when I was checking in, there was heavy smoke from a fire nearby which made it impossible to be in the hotel, I didn't even check-in and I was told that I was told I would receive a full refund for my stay. When I checked my visa I saw only a portion was refunded. I emailed them asking about the refund and they said they had decided after the fact that they didn't feel the need to refund me and that they would not answer my emails. They were outwardly rude and will not respond to my emails, I am SHOCKED that they are in hospitality. WORST EXPERIENCE!

Had a wonderful stay recently. Hotel is owner-run and all staff were attentive and friendly. The lady of the house was super and it was nice to make her laugh after a stressful time with demanding American guests. The room was clean, furnished to a high standard of monotone decor, and had access to a large shared balcony with communal seating which was great in the evenings. Breakfasts had varied choice of continental style. The spa facilities were great and their attention to design detail was superb throughout the hotel - a real gem. We just wish our stay was longer! Highly recommend for a relaxing break.

There's not a weak point; service rooms, food & drink and an amazing atmosphere make it my No.1 hotel in Portugal.

we had the most amazing stay. beautifully refurbished Manor house stylish contemporary and luxurious interior chic and modern. our ever whim was catered for. lovely owners that make sure you have everything you need. we forgot our everyday life and feel revitalised.the views and grounds are exceptional. we look forward to returning and relaxing once again.

Overbooking and cancellation of our stay. We can’t say how this hotel was because less than 48hrs before our arrival they cancelled our stay - by just sending an email saying they had decided for us where we would stay instead. We only found out on the day of our arrival that our stay had been cancelled (cause who checks their emails daily on holiday). Upon calling them to understand the issue, they were not only unapologetic and unhelpful but rude. That we should just accept that they rebooked us in another hotel without our consent. Cause you know what’s great? When someone else decides where to spend your holiday money. We wasted about 3hrs of a perfectly sunny afternoon of our holiday on the phone with them and with booking. They claimed that the value of our stay at the place they rebooked us was more so they didn’t see an issue. So a few days of our holidays were spent in a resort instead of a small boutique hôtel, thanks to this hotel being unorganized. Our reservation was made with at least 2 weeks of heads up and they could’ve notified us of their overbooking before we were actually on our holiday. ** edit reply to their response: you can see by their passive aggressive response what kind of customer service we had. They never sent us a message on WhatsApp and Booking confirmed to us that it was indeed an overbooking and not a problem with the room. Hopefully this review will help someone think twice before booking at this hotel cause your reservation apparently is not a guarantee even if you paid 250euros per night.

We would like to thank all the staff at Vila Valverde for their excellent attention to detail and amazing service (especially Renata and Fernanda). Nothing was too much trouble for the Team, even when our car hire company let us down at the last minute - Renata worked her magic and arranged a car for us. The hotel itself is modern and chic, and our room was beautiful. The breakfasts are delicious, with an abundance of choice, and the freshly baked cakes were a delight! The pool and grounds are stunning and well maintained. We were really apprehensive about travelling abroad this year, but despite the understandable COVID-19 restrictions, we felt safe and had a truly wonderful and relaxing stay. We highly recommend Vila Valverde, and we will be back and thank you again for such a lovely stay.
