Arriving at Faro airport, the man at the counter was aggressive after trying to sell me a upgrade that I didnt want, and adding on confusing over charges to the car I booked on your website. The website would not let me 'check in' online also. Then he accused me of not booking through 'Budget website' and using a third party booker. All the while discussing in Portuguese to someone in a back room. Not a good experience and will pass this onto Portugal Tourism as well! Very dissapointed.

I rented a car from the airport at Faro. During the rental period I had a flat tyre, which was replaced by the breakdown services, but the tyre was left in the boot of the car as it could be fitted in the same space as the spare. I had to make numerous calls to the Avis office in Faro requesting for some support as I was unable to load my luggage in the car due to the space taken by the flat tyre in the boot. I received no support and had to pay 75 Euros for a taxi to transport my family and luggage to the airport, while driving the car with the spare tyre which was not suitable for speeds above 80kmph on the highway at my own risk. Not the service i expected as a preferred member and I will not be renting from Avis again.

Never had any problems with any car hired. On this visit no wait at all which was excellent but on previous occasions have had to wait a long time to get car. Could require more staff at busy times to reducing wait.

Do not use! I have never had to write a bad review like this but feel I need to make others aware of these con artists. They added insurance without any consent. The did not explain this or charge me for this when signing (because I would have not signed) but took this from the deposit they blocked on my card, which they said was only kept in case I return the car without any fuel. I am trying to email and call to raise complaint and the only thing I have been given is a document which does not have my signature.

My rental reservation was for €80.35 yet Budget car rental at Faro Airport charged me €113.56 and did not provide explanation of why the numbers did not align with our agreed amount. >>update: After a couple months they did respond to my email, stating that the extra fees were roadside assistance that they claim I signed up for at pickup, and road tolls.

The car itself was good and we had no problems with it. Now I booked via aerlingus and it was advertised throughout the booking process that there would be an additional driver. It appeared nowhere on the booking recap received by email after booking, and of course I could not avail of this offer when arriving at the Avis booth. On the phone, no one explained how I could avail of this offer and the person seemed in a rush to get my case sorted. In the shop, the hostess was rude and the breakdown of the prices absolutely not clear. The hostess blamed the free driver issue on aerlingus, washing her hands of this issue. I believe that Avis should have honored what was advertised on the website, especially it would not have cost them a cent to add a free second driver... Never again...

Neatly rented a car from Sunnycars and upon arrival at Avis in Faro the lady asks if I want a free Upgrade, because the BB category is not available. Of course no problem and I consciously ask her whether this is without insurance, because it is already included in the Sunnycars package. No, no was the answer. Returned the car after a week of use and when returning it, asked the lady 3x whether costs will be charged afterwards. No, no was the answer again And what now creates my surprise. If the #Avis customer is out of Portugal for a few days, your credit card will still be looted without giving any reason. So be warned before you walk into Avis from Faro Airport to rent a car there...
