β β β β β Arrived in late January, so no queue to deal with, ( can't say how it would be at busy times, as the ticket system would leave you to believe it could be hectic at peak times. Every thing explained if you read the booking conditions so no drama, straight through in less than 10 minutes including car inspection all backed up on app sent through instantly on email so no confusion with a swift check and drop off. Excellent service

β β β β β Despite all the bad reviews, my own experience was perfect. I did take pictures of all the existing dents to be sure. The reception girl did not find any faults upon return.
Also, a tiny Toyota Aygo costed me only 34 euro for 2 weeks, through CarJet website. No insurance, of course.
My enjoyable experience was complete when I got the whole 1,320 euro deposit right the next day after returning the car. Despite the official 30 days maximum term for deposits charged from debit cards.
I have rented another car again, this time a Fiat 500 just at 17 euro for 2 weeks, also on CarJet. So no doubts or fears this time.

β β β β β Do NOT rent a car with this (scamming) company! We rented a car with them via a broker, with a full coverage insurance. When we arrived we had to pay almost 200 Euro extra for insurance and other things. They said the insurance of the broker was not valid. If didn't take the insurance we wouldn't get the car... The (extremely) rude woman at the reception even grabbed the contract from my hands and started screaming and threatening that she would cancel the booking when we contacted the broker to verify.
When we finally got the car the tires were almost flat, the front window was extremely dirty and the breaklights didn't work properly....This company is not okay!

β β β β β on the day of receiving the car, they took another deposit of about 70 euros, which they had not mentioned before and then did not return the money. I do not recommend this company.

β β β β β "If i could give a no star review i would.This car hire company are thiefs and scammers.When collecting car i noticed a marks on the bodywork which i duly pointed out to them, I was told by the rep not to worry about that scratch as the scratch wasnβt big enough.
However when I returned the car I was told that I would have to pay for the scratch, I rang customer service today and was said there was an extra fee of 171 euros added.
Goldcar was also going to charge an extra βcleaning feeβ as there was some sand on the floor of the car, (as per the attached pic there was a tiny bit of sand) and sure the sand will be cleaned up anyhow, I had to drive to the nearest petrol station and hoover the sand up myself to avoid paying this surcharge.
I have being renting cars for 15 years in Faro without incident and have never been treated like this before. Avoid at all costs"

β β β β β A good, fairly priced rental company. Easy pick up and drop off in terminal. They didn't try and 'scare' me into buying extra insurance. If you're driving around the Algarve you should get the automatic toll paying device when offered. The golden rule for all European car rental companies is to book the car using a credit card (NOT debit or Amex) in the name of the driver. If you don't do this, companies will often try and charge you a hefty fee for extra insurance to take the car.

β β β β β Very long and slow queue to get the car but the overall experience wasnβt as bad as most reviews state. Make sure to have a proper credit card for the deposit and firmly but kindly deny their insurance. And make sure to check the car for scratches when checking out - ours had much more than those marked initially. The car was new (6000km) and clean.

β β β β β Goldcar are a pretty good car hire company, they have good rates and decent selection of cars, clean, and usually up to date. I take the relax insurance to be sure but in doing so it pushes up the total cost, and what's more doesn't protect much as the rep still needs to go over the car with the inspection before and after the rental, so with in that in mind beware.
