★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a beautiful park, lots of trees and trails next to the water..you can see birds in their habitats..the only trouble in that everything is a bit dry and dusty..but if you're a nature and bird lover, the national park is worth visiting

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful natural park, lots of trails and bird hides, easily spotted many different birds whilst we were here. Great photo opportunities. Information boards are sited throughout so you can read about the environment and creatures who live there. Good accessible path ways through, and benches. It's free entrance, you do have to pay a small amount for parking but it helps with the up keep with the park etc so that is completely acceptable, there are also toilets by the entrance. There is a rehabilitation centre here also for sick and injured animals which volunteers help to run. A very friendly man in reception helped us to know what to do and see during our visit. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice nature reserve to take a walk and learn about the local flora and fauna. Easy parking and inexpensive. A nice place to spend a couple hours outside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice walk in the wetlands, good signs on the trails. Saw some great birds, and the Tide Mill and Nora word really interesting. Needs a little TLC but worth a visit.

Based on some of the reviews I didn't expect too much but I shouldn't have worried. we went to the museum first which was absolutely excellent and I learned a lot about the ria formosa and its wildlife including the life cycle of molluscs. it also has a balcony which provides a nice view over the area and has some good toilets (some reviews state the toilets are awful, these were very clean and completely fine). we then followed the trail down to the water and we were just in time to watch an Osprey catch its lunch. We also spent some time in the birdhide overlooking the freshwater pond which was very nice. We saw a good variety of birds including red legged partridge, azure winged magpies, sardinian warblers, egrets, shovellers, flamingos, Cormorants, Terns, a variety of waders etc. The walk was very pleasant and it was interesting seeing the tidal mill and the old irrigation system.
