The worst car hire company I have ever seen. The 1536 EUR deposit for a compact car is double or triple than the usual one, the 200 EUR full insurance for 6 days is ridicolous. And at the top of all, only 60 kms/day are included in the price, every extra km costs 0.37 cents. Much more expensive than any other company and staff is rude and negligent. If you do not want to get angry in the beginning of your holiday then book your hire at any other company (except Hertz since Firefly is subsidiary company of Hertz).

Decent cars at decent prices! The rental center is a bit further from the other ones, which also means it's less busy and you can get your car faster. We got there and the car we were supposed to get had an issue so we got a no questions asked free upgrade, which was great! The car was spotless, drove really well and we enjoy all the trips we had. Will go there again!

They stole my money. They'll steal yours too. Mysterious extra charges keep appearing on my Credit Card - the latest is 20 days after my visit to Portugal. No invoice, no receipts, no explanation - just theft. Just taking money from my Credit Card, hoping I won't notice. Hope it stops soon. Hope they stop stealing money from me soon. Very sad. It's sad that you just can't find an honest Company these days.

Scam-car-rental! Dubious online marketing. On-site surprises with insurance, restrictions in miles/day. They ask for 2400€ safety deposit on creditcard. CHECK YOUR CAR, before you leave the lot! Make sure ALL COPIES off the paperwork contain ALL the existing scratches and dents before you leave. And ask them tot sign of your copy when you bring it back! Otherwise they will charge you for "damage" to the car. Take pictures off the car while they see it. Don't let them have any excuse to take advantage off you... Because they will. I booked a car there through a site that did not even respond to my complaint to them.

Abusive and illegal rental trade Abusive practice and rip-off I booked a 45€ car for 8 days in Faro Portugal and I have been forced to pay 177€ extra for insurance purposes. As I have been told that my Credit Card was not ok to leave print for a deposit then I offered to pay the deposit fully (1592€) and the salesman has declined the offer saying that it would take 4 months for a refund.... It clearly sounds like a lie as I did this in NZ Wellington and the refund took 7 days only. And all went perfectly well there.

My experience with Firefly was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the pick up point was not in the terminal as stated in the booking email, but across a busy road from the terminal outside of the airport grounds. The firefly team member in Porto, was very uncooperative. It took 3 hours to verify the booking. Every aspect of our arrangement was questioned and I had to prove, on multiple occasions, that the booking covered; taxes, the return fee and all other related costs. The staff at firefly were more interested is adding costs and trying to get me to upgrade the booking than in allowing us to leave with the booked car in a timely and courteous manner. I found the whole experience to be exasperating. I was charged for unlimited mileage, this fee is listed in the terms and conditions, however I feel that since the booking site allows me to drop the car off over 600km from the pick up point, this charge should have been clearly visible and not hidden in the T&C's. The delay in Porto airport really affected our holiday and we had to cancel many of our plans for the day of rental and the following day to accommodate the delay. When I returned the car in Faro, I again had to object to fees been added to the booking fee. And again, the office was not in the airport, but outside of the airport grounds | will not be using Firefly in the future....if you do - question they for adding tax to everything- your booking probably already includes it.

Update: FireFly Car Rental has handeled the rental exellent. I was not able to fill the tank (used1/4) because all tank stations were closed at 05.30h. They didn't charge the full tank but only the used gas. Despite I knew they would charge a full tank. Thank you for the service. This means for me 5 stars! I will return. Good service when we picked up the car at night. But because we had to pickup the car in the dark we had to check the car the next day by daylight. We noticed 2 damages on the rear bumper and reported this by email with pictures. But the mail bounced because the reply adres was unknown. Then we send it to an email adres given the night we picked up the car. No response. Then afther a few days I forwarded the email to Hertz and a day later I got a reply that the email was forwarded to the location. As of to day no reply from the Firefly location. We will see what happens when we drop the car of on saturdaynight. The location will not be open yet so we get the delivery report by email. If this is handled ok they will get 4 stars.

Collected a car from Carl Airport 13 Sep - 25 Sep. Despite having some initial difficulty finding the desk & pick up due to lack of signage (they are just outside the airport perimeter, passed the other Rentals) they could not have been more helpful. After approx 10 minute wait, I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile. The car was ready, clean. The agent asked me if I wanted to upgrade...but wasn't at all pushy and accepted my decline. He showed us around the vehicle, gave us some tips for Portuguese driving, even came back to show me the hidden release for the fuel flap. Upon return, an agent showed us where to park the car. The same agent that had dealt with me on arrival welcomed us back. Check that everything had been OK. Checked around the car, checked the fuel tank was full, confirmed that there was nothing more to pay and suggested we had one final check that we had everything. Well Done. Hassle free and good price.
