Like everyone else, we arrived in Guia looking for the world famous frango (chicken) piri piri. The big famous restaurants like Ramires had hordes of diners waiting outside for a table and we didn’t fancy joining the fray so we took a walk in the early evening sunshine and stumbled upon the family-run Restaurant Algarve. The owner was very accommodating and conjured up a table outside with the other diners, on the cobbled pavement under the trees. The service was good, no-nonsense and efficient and when the food arrived it was exactly what I’d been hoping for. The barbecued chicken was delicious and left your lips tingling though not too hot in spice. The flavour was smoky and peppery and the accompanying tomato and onion salad and hot crispy fries complimented perfectly. I don’t often opt for a desert but, inside the restaurant, I noticed the waiter cutting a dark looking home-made tart and he told me it was a local speciality made from figs. It was sublime. Dark, sticky and sweet with a dense texture, we were left scraping the plate with our forks to get the last little bit. I recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for the real chicken piri piri of Guia in a friendly, rustic and very traditional setting.

The man says "we do good chicken" and he doesn't lie! It's a lovely local restaurant and very well priced. They will give you a cheese and local ham starter that does cost but is very nice. If concerned just check the menu before saying yes. The chicken is the business. We had a half chicken each and with starter and salad it's was a good meal. Nice hum of spice and very tender. If you hadn't noticed, I'd recommend this place ?

Ate here on the last night of the holiday after a couple in the village recommended it. My only regret is that I wish I'd discovered this place sooner, one of the best meals we both had all week whilst also being the cheapest by far. If I return to the area this will definitely be my first port of call.

Chicken piri piri was very good as was salad and quite tasty rosé. Not at all expensive either. It was a tad chilly though due to ventilation regulations - not their fault.

We've been coming to Guia for many years and love to eat the famous frango de guia! We've been to most of the places, and had never stopped here. I was very pleased that we did. No rush, we didn't wait long, and the chicken was tender and very tasty. I have read in other reviews that the servers were rude, but we did not have that. They were efficient. It was a great meal and the price was reasonable for the area. We would eat here again.

The piri piri chicken is the best around, but the steak I had, I suspect, was grilled cold, straight out of fridge (maybe freezer?) and was soggy grey on the plate. Had to send it back and re-order. Still charged for the steak though. Humph ?

Can completely agree! Their chicken is the absolute best, soft and succulent and full of flavour. Service is great and staff are all very friendly and welcoming. A must have is the house red and wine with no bubbles
